BetWright Sister Sites: Does BetWright Have Any Real Sister Bookmakers?

Rate this post

Search for BetWright sister sites and you will find several bookmakers grouped with BetWright, particularly DragonBet, AK Bets, Star Sports and PricedUp.

The connection is real, but calling all of them BetWright sister sites is misleading.

BetWright currently has no verified active sister bookmaker under its operator, Onyx Gaming Limited. The UK Gambling Commission lists BetWright as Onyx Gaming’s only active trading name, while betwright.com is its only active domain.

The other bookmakers commonly associated with BetWright are mainly connected through Playbook sportsbook technology, rather than through the same owner or UKGC operator.

That is the distinction we use throughout BetBuzz24’s Betting Sister Sites UK directory: ownership, licensed operation and shared technology are checked separately.

BetWright Sister Sites: Quick Answer

BetWright is operated by Onyx Gaming Limited under UK Gambling Commission account 64666.

The current UKGC record shows:

DetailCurrent BetWright Position
OperatorOnyx Gaming Limited
Company number11033330
UKGC account64666
Licence statusActive
Active trading nameBetWright
Active domainbetwright.com
Platform supplierPlaybook
Verified same-operator sister sitesNone
Last checkedSeptember 2026

Onyx Gaming currently holds active remote permissions for real-event betting, virtual-event betting, casino and bingo. Its present licence permissions have been active since November 2024.

So if by “sister site” you mean another bookmaker operated under the same licensed company, we could not verify one.

Does BetWright Actually Have Any Sister Sites?

Not under its current Onyx Gaming licence structure.

The strongest evidence comes directly from the Gambling Commission rather than from comparison or affiliate websites.

Onyx Gaming Limited’s current trading-name record contains one active brand: BetWright. Its domain record similarly shows betwright.com as active, while several older Onyx domains are marked inactive.

This is important because “sister sites” is used very loosely in the betting industry.

Two bookmakers may:

  • use the same sportsbook software;
  • have similar bet slips or account areas;
  • use the same third-party platform;
  • offer similar betting markets;

and still be owned and operated separately.

For BetBuzz24, that is not enough to call them genuine sister bookmakers.

Who Operates BetWright?

BetWright is operated and managed by Onyx Gaming Limited.

BetWright’s own terms say that the website is owned, operated and managed by Onyx Gaming Ltd and confirm Gambling Commission licence number 64666.

Companies House records ONYX GAMING LIMITED, company number 11033330, as an active UK private limited company. Its currently listed directors are David Matthews and Roger Creyke.

BetWright itself describes the sportsbook as a UK-licensed brand operated by Onyx Gaming Limited and says the brand launched in 2024.

That is the verified operating structure. We would rather stop there than speculate about an ultimate owner where the available public evidence does not support a clean conclusion.

Why Are DragonBet, AK Bets and Star Sports Called BetWright Sister Sites?

The answer is Playbook.

BetWright’s privacy policy explicitly identifies Playbook Gaming Limited as its “gaming platform and website supplier.”

Playbook Engineering describes itself as a betting-platform provider offering technology and managed services including sportsbook infrastructure, player account management, payments, KYC, promotions, CRM and trading support.

Industry reporting has also identified a group of sportsbooks powered by Playbook Engineering, including:

  • BetWright
  • DragonBet
  • AK Bets
  • Star Sports
  • PricedUp
  • Gentleman Jim

That gives these brands a genuine relationship.

But it is primarily a technology relationship.

The simplest way to think about it is:

Onyx Gaming operates BetWright.

Playbook supplies technology used by BetWright and other bookmakers.

Those are not the same role.

BetWright Sister Sites vs Playbook-Related Bookmakers

This is where a lot of existing BetWright sister-site content becomes confusing.

BookmakerVerified RelationshipGenuine BetWright Sister Site?
BetWrightOperated by Onyx Gaming Limited—
DragonBetPlaybook-related technologyNo verified common operator
AK BetsPlaybook-powered sportsbookNo verified common operator
Star SportsPlaybook-powered sportsbookNo verified common operator
PricedUpPlaybook-powered sportsbookNo verified common operator

These bookmakers are useful alternatives if you are specifically looking for sites built on related sportsbook infrastructure.

But they should not all be presented as if they belong to Onyx Gaming.

Is DragonBet a BetWright Sister Site?

No verified common operator links DragonBet and BetWright.

DragonBet is currently licensed separately through DragonBet Ltd, UKGC account 64908. The Gambling Commission lists DragonBet as the active trading name and dragonbet.co.uk as the active domain under that company.

BetWright, by comparison, sits under Onyx Gaming Limited account 64666.

Both brands have connections to Playbook technology, which explains why they are often grouped together.

So we classify DragonBet as a platform-related bookmaker, rather than a genuine BetWright sister site.

Is Star Sports a BetWright Sister Site?

The same distinction applies to Star Sports.

Star Sports currently operates under Star Racing Limited, UKGC account 9177. The Commission lists Star Sports as that company’s active trading name.

Playbook Engineering-related industry material has identified both Star Sports and BetWright among sportsbooks using the platform.

That tells us they share a technology connection.

It does not tell us Onyx Gaming owns Star Sports.

Therefore, Star Sports is not a verified BetWright sister bookmaker.

Is AK Bets Related to BetWright?

AK Bets is also relevant because it has been publicly identified among the bookmakers powered by Playbook Engineering alongside BetWright.

That is enough to establish a platform connection, but not enough to describe AK Bets as another Onyx Gaming brand.

We cover the bookmaker separately in our AK Bets review.

This separation is deliberate. A BetWright sister-site page should explain the relationship between the brands, while a review should assess the individual bookmaker itself.

What About PricedUp?

PricedUp is another useful example of why platform and ownership should not be confused.

The Gambling Commission currently lists pricedup.bet as an active domain under Off Course Bookmakers Limited, UKGC account 1776.

At the same time, PricedUp has been identified alongside BetWright as a sportsbook powered by Playbook Engineering technology.

So PricedUp may be technically related to BetWright, but it does not operate under BetWright’s Onyx Gaming licence.

What Does Sharing the Same Betting Platform Actually Mean?

Modern bookmakers do not necessarily build their entire sportsbook themselves.

A technology company such as Playbook can provide significant parts of the infrastructure behind a betting website.

Playbook currently promotes services including:

  • player account management;
  • payment and KYC systems;
  • sportsbook technology;
  • promotions and bonusing;
  • CRM;
  • business intelligence;
  • trading and managed services.

That can naturally make several bookmakers feel similar.

What shared technology does not automatically prove is shared:

  • corporate ownership;
  • UKGC licence;
  • customer funds;
  • account limits;
  • trading decisions;
  • promotional eligibility;
  • withdrawal decisions.

That is why BetBuzz24 uses platform-related where that is the relationship we can actually verify.

Our wider Independent UK Bookmakers guide uses the same approach when separating independent operators from the technology companies powering them.

What Happened to Playbook Gaming’s UKGC Licence?

There is another reason older BetWright sister-site pages can be difficult to follow.

Playbook Gaming Limited previously held UKGC account 50122. Its operating licences were surrendered on 19 November 2025.

Nine days earlier, on 10 November 2025, the Gambling Commission had issued Playbook Gaming Limited a warning and a £250,000 financial penalty.

The Commission said its review identified failures relating to anti-money-laundering requirements, customer interaction and remote customer identification.

This should not be misreported as a £250,000 BetWright penalty.

The regulatory action was against Playbook Gaming Limited.

BetWright continues to operate under the separate Onyx Gaming Limited account 64666, which remains active.

That is a particularly clear example of why platform provider and licensed bookmaker operator should not be treated as interchangeable terms.

Why Old BetWright Sister-Site Lists Can Be Wrong

The list of Playbook-related bookmakers has changed considerably over time.

The old Playbook Gaming licence record now shows former domains such as BresBet, DragonBet, BetZone, Planet Sport Bet, Rhino, Vickers and others as inactive under that licence.

Some brands moved into new regulatory structures. Others closed or later surrendered licences.

A very recent example is BresBet.

BresBet Ltd obtained its own licence in 2025, but that licence was suspended on 28 August 2026 while the Gambling Commission investigated suspected social-responsibility and anti-money-laundering failings.

BresBet Ltd then surrendered its operating licence on 4 September 2026. Bet St George Ltd surrendered its licence on the same date.

So we would not include either as a currently licensed BetWright alternative.

This is why simply copying an older “Playbook sister sites” list is unreliable.

Does BetWright Share a UKGC Licence With Other Bookmakers?

Based on the current Gambling Commission record, no other active betting brand appears alongside BetWright under Onyx Gaming Limited’s account.

BetWright is the sole active trading name and betwright.com is the sole active domain currently shown.

That is different from a conventional multi-brand operator where several recognisable betting sites may appear under the same licence holder.

For the broader picture of genuine operator groups, shared licences and shared platforms, see our UK Betting Sister Sites directory.

Is BetWright an Independent Bookmaker?

For the purposes of BetBuzz24’s ownership research, BetWright fits best into the platform-powered independent category.

Its operator is Onyx Gaming Limited rather than one of the large multi-brand groups such as Flutter, Entain or evoke.

At the same time, BetWright relies on third-party Playbook technology.

That is not unusual. Independence describes the ownership and operating structure; it does not mean every piece of sportsbook technology was built internally.

It also does not automatically mean better odds, larger limits or more favourable treatment of winning customers.

Those are separate questions.

Can Another Playbook Account Affect Your BetWright Account?

We would not make a blanket claim either way.

A common platform supplier does not by itself prove that separate bookmakers share trading limits, customer restrictions or promotional decisions.

BetWright’s terms make Onyx Gaming Limited responsible for the website and account relationship, while its privacy policy separately identifies Playbook as a supplier.

There may still be shared third-party infrastructure behind different bookmakers, but that is not enough evidence to tell users that a restriction at one Playbook-powered operator will automatically carry across to BetWright.

Check the terms of the individual bookmaker rather than assuming every Playbook site operates as one network.

BetWright Sister Sites or Similar Betting Sites?

This distinction is useful because users searching BetWright sister sites can actually mean two different things.

If the question is:

Which bookmakers are operated by the same company as BetWright?

Our current answer is:

None that we could verify as another active Onyx Gaming betting brand.

If the question is:

Which bookmakers use related sportsbook technology and may feel similar to BetWright?

Then the list becomes much broader.

DragonBet, AK Bets, Star Sports and PricedUp are among the clearest examples currently supported by public platform information.

Calling that second group Playbook-related bookmakers is more accurate than pretending they are all owned by BetWright’s operator.

Frequently Asked Questions About BetWright Sister Sites

How many BetWright sister sites are there?

BetWright currently has no verified active same-operator sister bookmaker. The UK Gambling Commission lists BetWright as the only active trading name under Onyx Gaming Limited account 64666.

Who operates BetWright?

BetWright is operated by Onyx Gaming Limited, company number 11033330. Onyx Gaming holds active UK Gambling Commission account 64666.

Is BetWright owned by Playbook Gaming?

The available evidence supports describing Playbook as a supplier, not BetWright’s gambling operator. BetWright’s privacy policy names Playbook Gaming Limited as its gaming-platform and website supplier, while Onyx Gaming Limited is identified as the controller and operator behind BetWright.

Is DragonBet a BetWright sister site?

Not under the same current operator. BetWright is licensed through Onyx Gaming Limited, while DragonBet has its own active UKGC account under DragonBet Ltd. Their connection is better described as a Playbook technology relationship.

Is Star Sports a BetWright sister site?

Star Sports is operated separately under Star Racing Limited. Both Star Sports and BetWright have been identified among Playbook-powered sportsbooks, but that does not make them brands of the same licensed company.

Which betting sites are most similar to BetWright?

DragonBet, AK Bets, Star Sports and PricedUp are useful comparisons because all have been publicly associated with Playbook Engineering’s sportsbook technology. They should be treated as platform-related sites, rather than automatically as genuine BetWright sister sites.

Does BetWright share its UKGC licence with another bookmaker?

The current Onyx Gaming Limited register entry shows BetWright as its only active trading name and betwright.com as its only active domain. We therefore found no current same-operator bookmaker to classify as a genuine BetWright sister site.

BetWright Sister Sites: The Bottom Line

The phrase BetWright sister sites is useful for search, but it can hide an important distinction.

BetWright currently operates through Onyx Gaming Limited, and we found no other active betting brand under the same Onyx Gaming licence structure.

DragonBet, AK Bets, Star Sports and PricedUp are relevant because they have been connected with the same wider Playbook sportsbook technology ecosystem.

That makes them platform-related bookmakers, not automatically BetWright sister sites.

For BetBuzz24, the operator record comes first. The platform relationship comes second.

That gives users a much clearer picture of who is actually connected to whom — and prevents an old white-label or technology list from being mistaken for a current ownership map.
