That is the verified operating structure. We would rather stop there than speculate about an ultimate owner where the available public evidence does not support a clean conclusion.

Why Are DragonBet, AK Bets and Star Sports Called BetWright Sister Sites?

The answer is Playbook.

BetWright’s privacy policy explicitly identifies Playbook Gaming Limited as its “gaming platform and website supplier.”

Playbook Engineering describes itself as a betting-platform provider offering technology and managed services including sportsbook infrastructure, player account management, payments, KYC, promotions, CRM and trading support.

Industry reporting has also identified a group of sportsbooks powered by Playbook Engineering, including:

Playbook Gaming Limited previously held UKGC account 50122. Its operating licences were surrendered on 19 November 2025.

Nine days earlier, on 10 November 2025, the Gambling Commission had issued Playbook Gaming Limited a warning and a £250,000 financial penalty.

The Commission said its review identified failures relating to anti-money-laundering requirements, customer interaction and remote customer identification.

This should not be misreported as a £250,000 BetWright penalty.

The regulatory action was against Playbook Gaming Limited.

BetWright continues to operate under the separate Onyx Gaming Limited account 64666, which remains active.

That is a particularly clear example of why platform provider and licensed bookmaker operator should not be treated as interchangeable terms.

Why Old BetWright Sister-Site Lists Can Be Wrong

The list of Playbook-related bookmakers has changed considerably over time.
